Snapshot of A Journey to The Highway to Yeah
This post is a quick snapshot of my journey onto what I call The Highway to Yeah.
There are four core components to that journey:
1. Discovering your personal myths and values.
Many of us inherit stories and priorities without ever questioning them. But your myths evolve, and you have agency in shaping them. The same is true of your values—you can choose what values matter most and how you live them. Alignment is key, but first you must decide what you’re aligning to, and why.
2. Developing the freedom to live your truth.
For many, that freedom is limited. My own path has been shaped by adopting minimalist principles. I created a process for what I call Zeroscaping. Zeroscaping is a process for the intentional removal of unnecessary friction in your life: the habits, obligations, and environments that quietly hold you back.
3. Pursuing an “encore career” through creative integrity.
This is the heart of The Highway to Yeah. It is finding and following your bliss, to use Joseph Campbell’s term. But it’s not just about doing what you love—it’s about committing to a path that feels meaningful and worthy of your time and energy. It’s choosing a quest, and seeing it through.
4. Radical lifestyle design.
This is both the starting point and the ongoing practice. It’s the act of consciously designing your version of the good life—and then living it. It’s how you get on, and stay on, The Highway to Yeah.
Some of these have been addressed in previous posts. I’ll continue to explore each of these more in future posts.
And I’m still working on all of them myself. There’s no real finish line—you just get further down The Highway to Yeah, and enjoy the road a little more each day.
